Q: I have gained nearly 10 pounds since my marriage and I just don’t feel sexy. I am concerned that my husband isn’t as attracted to me as he used to be. What can I do?
A: Although sexuality is typically thought of as a physical, a huge component is psychological, emotional and hormonal. From a physical standpoint, the answer is easy- lose the weight.
Although many things contribute to self-confidence, you magnify the sense of low self-esteem when you perceive that your partner is not attracted to you. This can lead to a decrease in your relationship fulfillment.
When we are not happy with our body image we begin to look at ourselves from outside of our body. This mind set can seriously detract from any sexual encounter. Break out of this situation by concentrating on how YOU can feel sexier about yourself. If you are not feeling sexy you may be transmitting that message to your husband.
First change your mindset. You can and will be sexy. Wear enticing clothes and lingerie. Plan a romantic get-away or an evening at home with candles and sexy music. Make him feel sexy too. Make these things a reality on a consistent basis and you will be back on the right track to feeling good about your sexuality, which undoubtedly will translate into more romantic and fulfilling sex life.
